Saturday, August 23, 2008 Two journalists, an Australian woman and a Canadian man, have been abducted by unidentified armed men near Mogadishu, police and a witness have said.

"They were taken under the threat of firearms. It was an abduction," a security official at a hotel south of the capital said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
A police officer confirmed the abduction on the road between Mogadishu and Afgoye, about 25 kilometres to the west.
The two journalists were to visit a refugee camp at Afgoye, the sources added.
