Objectives

The overall objective of the conference is to explore ideas by bringing together civics, scholars, practitioners, political leaders, and businesswomen and men to share their experience and critical examine how to enable the best environment for post-conflict peace-building.

 

The purpose of the conference is to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in the Horn of Africa with new ideas and tools to enable them to act progressively and effectively in favor of peace building, democracy, good governance, rule of law and development and effect long-term institutional change in the Horn of Africa that can respond to the needs of Horn of Africa societies. The purpose also includes building capacities of stakeholders, including civil society and political leaders to anticipate and respond to potentially violent conflicts.

 

The primary objective of the conference is to:

 

-         Identify key characteristics to post -conflict peace-building process in reference to the Horn of Africa.

-         Raise awareness of contentious issues for long-term development.

-         Encourage and facilitate dialogue between stakeholders to stimulate community-driven solutions integrated with long-term development plans.

-         Enable networking among stakeholders in the civil society and political leaders on peace-building issues.

 

The conference will take place in an internationally known cultural and University City of Lund, Sweden. All papers presented and workshop debates will be in English and proceedings of the conference will be published as a book after the conference. Free entrance and it is open to all!
