Somali soldiers storm central bank

Press TV
Monday, January 28, 2008

Somali soldiers loyal to the authorities of the semi-autonomous Puntland region have seized the central bank demanding their salaries.

The heavily-armed soldiers stormed the bank cutting off all roads leading to and from the building, claiming they had not been paid for several months.

This comes a week after Puntland locals staged protests in the region's administrative capital Garowe, marking the return of President Mohamud "Adde" Muse.

Protestors expressed their opposition to several major issues, including hyperinflation and the false currency scandal, rising insecurity and the Puntland administration's ineffective policy on Las Anod - a disputed town now controlled by the neighboring rival state of Somaliland.

This ugly guy called Cade (in reality ugly) should be removed  from the post because he failed to do the job satisfactorily!

I'm glad you could point out a spelling error, good for you.
However the intention of commenting is to get a point across,
this isn't formal writing such as an wedding invitation. But

are the chicken coming home to roast or roost?
mind your English brothers lol

Finally The chicken came home to roast is right in several fronts. First the Balkanization of Somalia that was engineered by Ethiopia & bunch of war lords & traitors has already paid its intended fruit of divide then invade. Second it is a powder cake formula that simply needs a match stick to explode any day of the week. When Puntland elders realized Mr. Yeey will not go away with election results & will create a civil war & anarchy instead of giving up the seat, they conspired & came up with a scheme. They told him "Mr. President your dream of occupying villa Somalia is in Embaghati conference & if you go there we will give you financial & military support". The reason they are bankrupt & broke is because their money is bribing the old man to stay in Mogadishu & never return to Garowe. It is simply the price you pay to shift the violence & anarchy, nothing more. However, what they didn't realize was it will come back to bite them where the sun doesn't shine....

Cadde has to stop being so greedy and disregard the salaries of soldiers who are looking after the region. You stole enough money, give some bread crumbs to the rest of the administration.

I suppose the corrupt leaders of puntland couldn't keep the lid on the pirate gangs's hunger and desire for looting.  After all as majority of us who deal with realities know that puntland was led by people like warlord a/lahi yusuf whom didn't care about his country as long as he achieved his goal, which was to be named the worthless position of president even if this meant you allow your biggest enemy to invade your country and he will always be remembered for the stooge warlord that invited meles's thugs

Good job for the once who took this lead.  For sure, they must have been in a serious situation that threaten their survival and dignity and could no longer hide balancing a loaded gun and empty stomach. Shame t the leaders who did not see this coming.

 Fiqicigaal,

I agree with you. They are all valcanoes waiting to erupt.

Until central government is reconstituted, these regional adminstrations -Somaliland and Puntland- are a ticking bombs waiting to explode.

LoooooooooooooooooL at comparing Puntland with Somaliland,
saxiibo we all know the deal, Somaliland is a stable country
whereas is a Pirate stop point, I mean has there ever been
any news since 1993 about Somaliland instability except
for the occasional right for Somaliland to protect it's
border, or some reporters getting arrested because
of treason (loyalty to Somalia rather than Somaliland)? On
the other side of the coin, Puntland is constantly on the
new, Garoowe is the new Xamar, but I'll tell you this
you enjoy comparing Pukeland with Somaliland if that
makes you people feel better, I mean I'm all for
bosting the confidence of my fellow suffering Somalis
(South Somalis), may ALLAh help you dellusional people lol
Fiqicigaal @ 1/28/2008 5:47 AM EST
When people talk about peace and stability in somaliland and Puntland i shake my head with disbelieve and disgust because these local administrations as they are known by the rest of the world are volcanoes that are just about to errupt and the destruction will over weigh the tragic situation in mogadisho . This reminds me of a similar incident that took place in Hargeuisa years ago when a group of armed militia stoomed the then it's central bank  and robbed it in broad day light . Trust me , in the absence of a central government in somalia i would'nt feel at ease if i was to reside in these  regions as much as iam worried to visit southern somalia
Gaadh-haye @ 1/28/2008 5:16 AM EST
Woow, it is wild wild west type of situation out there in Puntland nowadays. It seems law and order is getting out of hand.

The curse and suffering of Mogadishu residents is haunting every body that contributed to it, it seems.

CHICKENS ARE FINALY COMING HOME TO ROAST. Had they not done what they are doing in Mogadishu, thinks would have gone ugly this way.
