WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) - A George Washington University employee tells 9NEWS NOW was harassed on the job by the FBI.
Why? He claims it's because he's Muslim.
"For them to show up and embarass me like that, it's completely unacceptable," says Abdul Kadir Muhamed. He still has no idea why two FBI agents showed up at the George Washington University library where he's worked for 17 years in building operations.
"They say because I'm Muslim and they are here to check me out because I could be a terrorist," he claims. He says the agents claimed they were investigating based on a tip.
"It was kind of like an interrogation thing," Muhamed says. He recalls they asked him about where he was from and whether he knew anyone who's a terrorist. He says he does not and has nothing in his past that would connect him to any terrorist activities.
The Somali native points out he's been in the U.S. for 24 years and is now a U.S. citizen. "I'm a hardworking American and I pay my taxes and everything," he says.
That may be the case, but according to terrorism expert Larry Johnson, "They didn't take him into custody. He wasn't subjected to a full-body cavity search. He was questioned. So I think it's appropriate." He added, "If the FBI did not question him and something happened, then people would be hollering why didn't the FBI do their job?"
But clearly, not every GW student agrees. At least one student who described Muhamed as a "hardworking nice person" told 9NEWS NOW, "because he's a Muslim, they are coming to talk to him. I don't think that's right."
Muhamed has filed a campus police report about the incident. We contacted the FBI to get their side of the story. They would only say "at this point in time, he is no longer the subject of an on-going investigaton."

well. The FBI just doing there job..attacks have come from young muslim guys and at least someone has pointed the finger to the brother..and if he is not guilty of anything there nothing to cry about.

Aren't they supposed to have a warrant if they want to come into your house, anyway?!

they are not clear-poor sentence structure, weak thinking and no substance.
This proves that we need a government in Somalia desperately, to save the new generations.

Well said most of you except my internet aunty Camel girl. I met recently 70 year old African muslim official. He told me he was going to UN to attend a meeting. When he applied visa in his country, American Embassy told him, he is terrorist watch list. The old man told them he never in America nor he has any interest though to no avail. He got visa after his country foriegn minister summon American Ambassador. As Fiqicigaal put it, mad dog Bush game will b over soon. Talk to CAIR or ACLU but never afraid from FBI though now the whole judicial system is under Michael Shertoff and his DHS T squad

I feel for this brother... yet what he and every Muslim should know since 9/11 is that if you are Muslim you ARE a terrorist or potential terrorist full stop.
Furthermore if you are in America and a Muslim, you are a terrorist till proofing NOT a terrorist. Power to Muslims and Somalis...

Mr mohamed you have good case i would suggest you hire a good lawyer specialy ACLU they do for free and they will defend on the behalf of your rights has been violated. It is good job that u went on to public your case some people dont they scare or dont know the language, or dont understand how the system works. This is good case don't set hire someone to represent you and i am sure u will win 100%. For doing this it wouold prevent another innocent man or woman to fall this kind of 911 fear thing.

Worreist is yet to come brother. you talking about Harrasement those people have power to put you in an unknown place forever.So I believe that harassment is the simplest think that tody's Islam face. My point is be strong and always always do the right thing in-order to be safe. And don't forget that we do have a sweet country, and we can go back anytime we want(after we clean stink Ethopian and their dogs out somali)
