MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Residents of a southern Somalia town who do not pray five times a day will be beheaded, an Islamic courts official said Wednesday, adding the edict will be implemented in three days.
Public places such as shops and tea houses in Bulo Burto, about 124 miles northeast of the capital, Mogadishu, should be closed during prayer time and no one should be on the streets, said Sheik Hussein Barre Rage, the chairman of the town's Islamic court.
Those who do not follow this edict "will definitely be beheaded according to Islamic law," Rage told The Associated Press by phone. "As Muslims, we should practice Islam fully, not in part, and that is what our religion enjoins us to do."
He said that the courts are announcing the edict over loudspeakers in the town.
The decision is not binding on courts in other towns.
Somalia's Islamic courts have made varying interpretations of Quranic law, some applying a more strict and radical version of Islamic law than others.
As a result of such disparate variations, residents in the capital of Mogadishu complained, forcing the Council of Islamic Courts officials in October to set up an appeals court with better-educated judges.
The Council of Islamic Courts have swept through most of southern Somalia since taking over Mogadishu in June.
Their sometimes strict and often severe interpretation of Islam has raised the specter of Afghanistan's ousted Taliban regime, and contrasts with the moderate Islam that has dominated Somali culture for centuries.
Some of the courts have introduced public executions, floggings of convicts, bans on women swimming at Mogadishu's public beaches, and the sale and chewing of khat, a leafy stimulant consumed across the Horn of Africa and in the Middle East.

But the main point is if the Islamic courts were truly "blood thirsty moryaans", then they would had started killing and robbing people again, but we both know DAMN WELL that Mogadishu is not the way it use to be YESTERDAY. There is a big difference and the people of Mogadishu are thankful for that. The gunmen were hired by the warlords, and today the warlords are in baidio setting next to our ‘so called’ president! No warlords no gunmen.

I know it for sure some are shedding crocodile tears here that Somalia is back on its feet after along time under good leadership..My dear brothers and sisters ,I mean those who stay awake the whole night just to hear misinterpretation of islam in western world voice. Anybody who knows the Quraan clearly understands its meaning and if they are some, the ICU have the best religious leaders for that matter. the somali news only reported that shops will be closed, nothing about beheading, besides, this beheading story was first reported by "FOXNEWS"
So people, chill out, see if it is accurate and then make a comment.

The IUC should arrest that so called Sheik in B/Burte and send him
for retraining in Quranic school, if that is what he exactly said, he has little understanding of the Diin. Rage will create more problems than solution in B/burte. However I have my doubts of what Salad Dhuhul has written, remember foreign fighters videos, he has never provided evidence of its existence, so be suspicious of his writings.

To begin with, how can we even believe this account? Are there any
outlets in Somalia where a Somali in a small remote village
in Somalia can refute such claims? If this is true which
I highly doubt since it contradicts the Qur'an, then it's
the opinion of one ignorant and illiterate man in a small
village in our country. But let me tell you this my fellow
Somali Muslims, after this "UN Resolution" passed I am of the
sincere belief that there is a focused and hightened WAR ON ISLAM
today and Somalis and other Muslims need to wake up
and READ READ READ their own holy book so they KNOW what

Whoever issued this edit must be reading a different Qoran, not the Qoran that was recited to our Prophet Mohamed (PBUH). Suratul Baqra, ayah 256 states "There is no compulsion in religion." There is nowhere in the Quran that states that people have to be forced in becoming Muslims and punish them if they don't practice the 5 daily prayers. Not only that, but to the surprise of most of you, the Qoran also allows people to renounce their Muslim faith. Read Suratul Amran, ayah 90 "Those who disbelieve after their believing, then increase in disbelief, their repentance is not accepted, and these are they that go astray". Which means if a Muslim changes his/her religion, he/she is lost and forget about him/her.

This is awkward.This isn't a stance shared by the entire I.C.U...I doubt the authenciticy of this report from the A.P. writer.Let us not be hoodwinked by the propaganda by the western media.What they are doing is a smear campaign to tarnish the good name and reputation of the I.C.U....If this is true then it's a regrettable incident and it is a rare incident and maybe a personal stance not shared by others.Every muslim knows the reason why Allah (S.W.T.)revealed suratul kafirun and it's message to the entire Umah.You can't force a person to accept your religion forget about beheading a person once he/she fails to pray.I will urge the supporters of the I.C.U. not to be discouraged and sickened by this article.Everyone knows that, there are so many opposers in this western media who want to portray a wrong picture of our sheikhs so that we oppose them.We have in the past heard some propagandas which were spread by the media and later denied by the top-leaders and this one is obviously in line with those ones.

This is exactly why I am against this group. It sickens me that these extremists think they can introduce their own form of strick sharia laws and expect the rest of us will simply accept it.
The other day I saw the pictures of a young Somali boy, a teenager, killing a guy with a knife. Behind him were hundreds of fellow Somalis watching and cheering while this kid brutally killed this old man to death with a knife handed to him by members of the courts. No body deserves to die like this with the shame and humilation of having people attend your own public execution in which a little kid shuves a knife on you back and forth. Even if the man killed this boy's father, as was reported, this is a terrible way to take a life.
This is not Sharia laws but gang style streat justice.

This is exactly why foreign troops should be allowed in Somalia to rescue Somali people from these ignorant/deviants that are hiding behind religion. . This is far worst than Teliban style.
